EVERY TEACHER PRAYS

cropped-kw-seminar-books.jpg

Every teacher prays

The Catholic, Protestant, non-Christian, Atheist …

Everyday, walking the classroom’s threshold

We pray to be delivered from

The menace of caprice

In a land governed by misery

The only evidence of our existence

With nothing but a chalk

backbone for the onslaught

The gunfight

The fire

The explosion

The educational cataclysm

That will leave the classroom

Scattered in doom

Books, bodies and minds with

Words and dreams

Obliterated beyond recognition

   …pray for us teachers now

and at the hour of our test,

 Ah women

GET A NEW WORLD

cropped-parthanon-relief-greek-soldiers.jpg

Get a new World

throw the old one out

whatever is is not

one can drink the doubt

Etherized village

housing the bomb

spasms of brilliance

an end to aplomb

Playing in the fields

of gods abstract

nothing more deceptive

than obvious fact

Slouching to birth

a World’s small event

butterflies’ wings

create human rent

It is easy

with water & babe

throw out the bath

than new self be made

Cool ourselves in heat

of possibility

easy a new World

than heart’s humility

EASTER MORNING

cropped-garden-statue.jpg

THIS Easter

Left alone with a bedraggled time that has

Had its way and solitude

Center stage in slight

Tremors, worrying the carcass of

An old fear that

Beneath the footprints of

These silhouetted days lay

Dread

Goodness under the influence

Life generously giving of

Privilege (for few) and benediction (for many)

A brilliant ignorance

That holds

We are all on that

“darkling plane”

Where good is bad

Bad is good is

Bad is good…

A curious crossroads

To ponder fate while

Loving the scientist and his

Prayerful Algorithms

That Sun Tsu certainty in sequence

Leaving believers on a mobius loop

Of repetition

Governed by gods of division

Long dividing people

But not the praying hands

Of the hopeful

 THIS Easter
